Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.

—PSALM 127:3

A mom and dad rush to the hospital to have a baby. A day later, they leave with the baby held high in the sky and a big blue ribbon pinned to its blanket. A crowd cheers as they exit the hospital doors. It feels like a big awards ceremony.

Okay, so that’s not usually what happens when a new baby arrives. And when guests come for dinner, your parents don’t dress you up and place you on a podium and say, “Look at our prize daughter.” But they could. Parents have every right to be proud of you. Know why?

Children are a reward from God. Whether you are a biological or adopted child, your parents “won” a huge blessing when you came into their lives.
